The Via Claudia Augusta cycle route stretches from Augsburg to Venice.
Probably the most beautiful section is that from the Reschen Pass to Merano where the path runs through fabulously
varied scenery including sheltering forests, open meadows, villages and towns (Glurns) and alongside apple
orchards to the spa town of Merano. Bicycles can be hired from the Vinschgau Valley Railway

A car-free day is held for bikers on the Stelvio Pass at the start of September every year.
With its 48 hairpin bends, it is a must for every cyclist.
The same goes for motorcyclists: even today the Stilfser Joch, known as the "Queen of the Alpine Passes",
poses a distinct challenge for both rider and machine.
This challenge comes in the form of the still very narrow stretches of road with sometimes single-track tunnels
through the mountainside on the one hand, and on the other, the not inconsiderable difference in height,
travellers being taken up to 2.700 metres above sea level.
